Small Flame Films was created in January 2022 by Ngaio Anyia and
Aodh Breathnach, long time friends, when they received a commission
from Netflix through the New Documentary Talent Fund to create a
short film. They chose the name to represent the types of stories
they like to tell - giving a voice to the underdog and those who can
be made voiceless by society.
Ngaio Anyia, director and original music composer for the short,
comes from a background of journalism and EDI (equity, diversity and
inclusion) as a consultant and trainer. Ngaio is passionate about
making the entertainment industry one that gives space to multiple
voices from different backgrounds. Her past credentials include
presenting Monumental: Bristol After Colston for BBC World.
Aodh Breathnach, shooting producer, comes from a background of film
and TV and is an expert at capturing delicate moments in beautiful
ways. As a storyteller he has worked on productions such as
Ambulance for BBC One, Sudden Death for BBC Three
and One Shot: The Football Factory for Sky Originals.
